A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, two fleurs-de-lis in chief and a battle-axe in base embrued all Argent.
The shield is in the colors of Infantry. The two fleurs-de-lis symbolize the organizations campaigns in Europe during World War II. The bloody battle-axe device was used as the units unofficial emblem in combat and the unit was known as the Battle-Axe Regiment.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 November 1954.
